I’M INJURED, WHAT DO I DO?

In 2016, I had a nagging shoulder injury that would not go away. It was one of the most annoying experiences of my competitive career. But being the stubborn athlete that I am, I did NOT take the proper steps to help improve the issue. Instead, the injury progressively got worse, until eventually, major interventions had to be made.

My goal today is to help you prevent making the same mistakes and create a check-list to prevent and help you intelligently train through an injury.

First, injuries can be caused by a variety of factors, such as overtraining or adding intensity to workouts before mechanics are sound and/or biases in particular exercises, reps, and sets.

If you’re experiencing an injury, we found our clients thrive and recover faster by taking these action steps:

STEP #1 – Notify your coach.

Your coach can help you identify immediate action steps to help prevent further pain and to safely identify movements you can perform moving forward.

No matter the injury you CAN continue to exercise. Our coaches at Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness are professionally trained to modify workouts to keep you on the move and help you recover faster.

If you don’t have a coach, it’s time you find one! Set up an appointment HERE to see if our staff is a good fit for you!

STEP #2 – See a specialist

If your pain has been persistent for longer than two weeks and is significant or you’re confident you have experienced an injury, you should see a specialist immediately.

While our coaching staff is highly trained, significant injury recovery is not our specialty. We cannot identify underlying issues that a professional can find. Go to a specialist.

STEP #3 – Introduce your specialist to your coach.

After you meet with your specialist put them in contact with your coach to formulate a specialized game-plan.

Working together with your coach AND your specialist is the best plan to figure out a strategy and accountability program so you can continue to improve your health and fitness while also recovering and rehabilitating your injury.

At Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness, our goal is to keep you moving forward despite any setbacks. We offer you both nutrition & fitness coaching, from personal training to group CrossFit classes we have the keys to help you reach your goals!

Our personal trainers and group coaches value lifting weights, and using multi-jointed, functional exercises performed at high intensity. You don’t have to guess about what to do!
