Coach Sergio

Coach Sergio has brought energy into our gym over the last year to help our community thrive. Before Coach Sergio, one of our biggest complaints was about our music…He has definitely upped our music game in class!

“The drive to get better is a trait people have walking through our doors, but to say someones best quality is their ability to consistently improve is a whole different level…Coach Sergio is on that level. He was inexperienced  when it came to coaching CrossFit and it showed during the training process. Then I realized how dedicated he was to getting better, and I got very excited! He was like a sponge absorbing all the knowledge around him from our experienced coaching staff, athletes, and through his own research, and improved every single day. To have a coach who models consistency and the drive to get better for our athletes is very special. I am glad to have Coach Sergio on our coaching team.” – Coach Emily, GM –

How long have you been coaching? Why did you start coaching?

I have been coaching for approximately a year now. The decision to become a coach stemmed from my desire to share my enthusiasm for CrossFit with others. Guiding individuals towards becoming the best versions of themselves is a profoundly rewarding experience, and as a coach, I am fortunate enough to actively participate in their growth and development.

What do you enjoy most about coaching?

One aspect of coaching that I find particularly enjoyable is the opportunity to interact with athletes. Each person who walks through the gym doors has their own unique life outside of the training space. However, during their time in the gym, whether it’s just an hour or so, I witness a remarkable transformation. It’s as if they can disengage from any external distractions or stresses and truly dedicate that timeframe to themselves. Being a part of that process, where athletes prioritize their own physical and mental health, is incredibly rewarding as a coach.

What are your coaching specialties?

During my relatively brief time as a coach, I have come to realize that there is an abundance of knowledge yet to be acquired. Each athlete presents a unique set of challenges, whether it be movement limitations or variations in their CrossFit experience. Nevertheless, my approach remains consistent for every individual I coach. I firmly believe that fostering a positive and encouraging environment is essential for motivating athletes to reach their full potential. By cheering on their successes, no matter how big or small, I strive to create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and inspired to continue their fitness journey.

Favorite movement to coach?

My favorite movement to coach is core-related exercises because a strong core enhances performance in all other movements.

What do you love about coaching at CrossFit Lincoln?

I love CrossFit Lincoln because of the incredible community of people that make it truly special.

What do you do outside of the gym? hobbies/work etc..

I work as a trainer for a software company, where I have the privilege of teaching weekly classes to law enforcement personnel at the state and federal level, helping them utilize the software to streamline their investigations.

Fun Fact or something you would want an athlete to know about you but doesn’t fit the other questions?

A fun fact about me is that I made a move from enjoying summer weather all year long to living in an area where cold weather dominates most of the year.
