“If you want to nerd out about all things CrossFit – I am your guy!” – Coach Landon –
Landon’s passion for the sport of CrossFit has recently been overshadowed by his passion for coaching athletes CrossFit. Over the last year he has obtained his CrossFit level 1 and 2 certification and if you have had in class you can most definitely tell how much he has grown as a coach.
“It has been a great pleasure witnessing Landon’s transformation over the last year. He has always been a hard worker and passionate individual, but to see it be used towards helping our athletes reach their goals has been a true gift to our community!” – Coach Emily, GM –
How long have you been coaching? Why did you start coaching?
I’ve been coaching since March of 2022, so the better part of 15 months. I started coaching because I have a passion for CrossFit and what it’s done for me in my life. Coaching provides an avenue for me to show others what CrossFit can do for them.
What do you enjoy most about coaching?
As a coach, I enjoy watching an athlete tackle something they have been working on, struggled with in the past, or didn’t understand before finally click. Sometimes athletes don’t even know they are showing their enthusiasm in those moments. As the coach, I’m having that inner dialog of “Yes! They get it. They’ve broken through!”.
What are your coaching specialities? Favorite movement to coach?
I think a specialty I can connect with would be breaking down workouts with athletes to help them plan their attack. Areas such as being efficient in transitions, when to break, and what your pace should look like are where I can really help athletes. I really enjoy coaching sumo deadlift high pulls.
What do you love about coaching at CrossFit Lincoln?
I think the opportunities and support given to coaches to continue their education is great. This also helps us as coaches better the training environment for our members.
What do you do outside of the gym? hobbies/work etc..
By day, I am a business analyst for a company in Lincoln. Otherwise I enjoy following CrossFit content, making a bomb brunch, and seeing a movie in theaters when I can.
Fun Fact or something you would want an athlete to know about you but doesn’t fit the other questions?
Fun fact I’m actually pretty quiet and introverted outside of the gym.
Words to potential athletes or newer athletes:
You don’t need to be fit to start CrossFit. All you need is the want to become better than you were the day before, and to walk through the door.
