Jenna McCoy – July Athlete of the Month

Coach profile Testimonials NMM BAFD 12

Consistency is one of the biggest factors in being successful both in life and in the gym. Jenna comes in consistency 5x a week to our 430pm class (8am on Saturdays) and works hard. When Jenna first started at our gym she was unsure of her abilities and over the last her she has gained a confidence in herself that has allowed for so much growth as an athlete. Her overall strength has improved and she now she can do certain gymnastic movements likes pull ups and toes to bar. Her positive personality and workout ethic are a welcomed addition to our 430pm crew!

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do for a living/study? Feel free to add more.

I was born and raised in the good life.   I am the baby of 4 and my parents’ favorite kid.   I graduated from Pius X High School and then continued my education and ran Cross Country and Track at Wayne State College.  I received my bachelor’s degree in Human Service Counseling.  I am the Associate Director of Recruitment and Engagement at CEDARS.   CEDARS is a nonprofit to help children and youth achieve safety, stability, and enduring family relationships.  I have been at CEDARS for 8+ years!

How did you find out about Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness?

I was doing CrossFit before coming to LNF but wanted more.  More structure, more coaching, and really just a change.  Did a little google search and a meeting with Emily and never looked back.   It’s been a great experience at LNF!   Before I doubted my abilities and since finding LNF I have accomplished so many of my goals!!!

What was the biggest obstacle for you to start?

I have been involved in sports my whole life but after running a billion miles in college I lost the love for it all.  I became overweight which then led to some health problems.   I knew that I needed to get back into working out more seriously but doing something different than running and watching what I ate.  CrossFit was just that.

How did you overcome that obstacle?

My sister introduced me to CrossFit a few years back, but I knew I also needed to drop a few pounds.  So that is what I did.  I started tracking my macros and going harder in the gym.   Tommy and I then took a leap and switched to gyms to LNF

Do you remember your first workout?

Yes, I was scared like it was the first day of school.   I am usually a REALLY outgoing person, but it took me a couple weeks to get use to everything.

Who was your coach, how did they help you push through it?

I believe that Austin was the coach that day and he was amazing.   He does an awesome job with giving pointers!

Why do you keep coming back to Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness?

EVERYTHING- The workouts, the people, the coaches, my goals….. When I leave LNF I’m a whole new person!

How do you balance health & fitness with a busy schedule?

It’s just built into my daily routine.

How does CrossFit help you with your job?

CrossFit helps in so many ways!  I deal with many different stressful situations at work, so being able to end the day with a workout helps relieve some of that stress.  Plus, I am a jack of all trades at my work sometimes so being able to lift heavy things can come in handy!

What is your favorite thing about Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness?

The community is top notch!  Everyone comes in and works really hard with such a positive mind set.

Thank you, Jenna, for giving our community a try and because of you we are better!
