At our monthly coaches meetings we pick our athletes of the month. Sig was an athlete who our coaches couldn’t even wait until the meeting to nominate. Our mission is to positive impact and changes lives. Sig has one of the most positive attitudes of anyone to walk through our doors and he impacts our coaching staff and more importantly his fellow athletes in class. Thank you Sig, we are lucky to have you! 1.Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do for a living/study? Feel free to add more. I’m from Minnesota originally! I came down here to Nebraska to study at UNL! I graduated last spring and I am currently working and applying to medical school. I work at the St Elizabeth ER, and also occasionally pick up shifts working on the ambulance! 2. How did you find out about Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness? I started CrossFit in Minnesota but when I came down to Lincoln I felt like a huge part of my life was missing when I didn’t have a CrossFit gym! I found CFL with Conner Lauber our sophomore year of school and I’ve been going here ever since! 3. What was the biggest obstacle for you to start? The biggest obstacle to me starting CrossFit was learning all the movements. I had never done the Olympic weightlifting movements and I struggled with those the most at the beginning! Now the Olympic lifts are some of my absolute favorite CrossFit movements! 4. How did you overcome that obstacle? Practice is the only way to get better at those movements and it took me years to learn them and I’m still constantly learning and improving on them! 5.Do you remember your first workout? I don’t remember my first workout but I remember loving how challenging they were and I was just impressed because every single workout constantly pushed me to new limits every time when I first started, and they still do today! 6. Who was your coach, how did they help you push through it? I’ve had a lot of coaches throughout doing CrossFit and I love that each one has a unique perspective and I can learn something different from everyone! 7.Why do you keep coming back to Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness? I keep coming back because of the community and the workouts. Both keep me accountable and in good shape. Working out and pushing yourself is better with friends. 8. How do you balance health & fitness with a busy schedule? I balance health and fitness with my weird job schedule by trying to keep the noon class as a consistent part of my life. I work a lot of shifts till 11pm, 1am or 3 am and I just try to always make the noon class a priority. It helps my body stay on schedule and keeps me in a good rhythm. 9. How does CrossFit help you with your job? CrossFit helps me with my job by keeping me strong! I lift patients and move around a ton and working out gives me the strength and energy to keep up! 10. What is your favorite thing about Lincoln Nutrition & Fitness? My favorite thing about CFL is the community. Hanging out after the noon and doing bicep curls for 30 minutes or the bench press gauntlet is always a blast. Also doing CrossFit brings a lot of people together that probably wouldn’t meet each other if not for CrossFit. I really enjoy meeting those people! Thanks guys, honored you picked me!
