This month, we’re celebrating Morgan, whose dedication and progress over the past four years have been nothing short of incredible!
Morgan first joined CrossFit Lincoln through personal training and has since made the full leap into group classes. She’s logged an impressive 529 sessions — including group classes, personal training, goal sessions, and nutrition coaching. Along the way, she’s set 86 personal records and lost around 70 pounds, all through consistent hard work and commitment to her health.
Currently, Morgan is on a 29-week attendance streak and continues to show up, push herself, and inspire everyone around her. Her journey is a perfect reminder of what’s possible when you trust the process and stay consistent.
Way to go, Morgan — we’re so proud of you!
Tell us a little about your background (where are you from, schooling, work, etc.).
When ever I’m asked where I’m from my answer is either nowhere or a little of a lot of places. I’m an armybrat, my dad was army, so we moved about every 2.5 years or so. I think I spent the most time in collectively in Texas, so I go with there.
I’m an LPN right now and have been working on and off on classes to possibly get my RN.
What first brough you to CrossFit, and what keeps you coming back?
When I started CrossFit, I worked at Lancaster Rehabilitation center which is up the street from the gym. I was working 12 hour over nights. I was working out; I was going to Planet Fitness off and on and of course walking. I was actually pretty miserable to be honest. I knew something needed to change, so I started googling workouts for all around fitness and CrossFit kept popping up. I had no clue what CrossFit was, the videos I saw where of professional athletes, and I was like there’s no way.

I also saw there where a few CrossFit gyms here in Lincoln, and at the time I don’t think there was much information on the websites to really tell me what went on in classes. I remember I chose our gym for a few reasons; 1. Location, it was close to my work so easily accessible to me 2. The name included fitness and nutrition. 3. It had personal trainers available. So, I made an appointment to check it out. I got off work came to the gym, spoke with the owner at the time. Told him what I was possibly looking for, and he recommended Coach Emily. I was working a bunch, and I was making quite a bit of extra money, so I decided I wanted to start investing in myself, my health and well-being. I’m so glad I did! It’s been a heck of a journey so far, I’ve had some highs and lows. Got a new job, then 4 months later my mom passed away unexpectedly. It’s taken me a while but I’m becoming the person I want to be. I’ve really started focusing on it this year, because I want to be around for a long time. I would rather we sore and uncomfortable now then end up being dependent on others for care. Possibly being stuck in a bed or a wheelchair unable to get up and move on own. That would be even more painful, believe me I’ve seen it. I’m not saying that something won’t happen in the future because loss of mobility and strength, I just know I want to fight like hell to prevent it.
CrossFit is the best part of my day. I talk about it constantly, and am constantly trying to drag my friends lol, they think I’m nuts and in a cult. Even when I’m feeling blah I almost always feel better after a workout. Take this past Monday for example, I was tired, it was gross out and I just felt so out of energy all day. I walked in and still felt eh. Coach Logan asked how I was feeling and I think I told him I felt blah and tired. He smiled and laughed and said don’t worry we’ll get you moving, and he definitely did lol. I loved Monday’s workout! I really like that I’m getting slowly better with rope climbing. I like being strong, and the reverse lunges were great as well. The burpees, well there where only three at a time. It’s as close to zero as we were going to get. It was also partnered. I don’t usually care for partner workouts because I don’t want to slow anyone down, this one turned out pretty good.
What is your favorite movement or workout – and your least favorite?
I love being strong, and if I had to pick a movement that I like the most I would have to say squats… pretty much all of them, well except for overheads, but that is getting better as well.
How has CrossFit impacted your life outside the gym (health, work, family, mindset, etc.)?

Well, since starting I’ve lost around 70ish lbs., which is so great! Even better though is confidence. I’ve gained so much more confidence in myself. I’m a bit self-depreciating, but since starting CrossFit it has definitely gotten better especially this past year.
What advice would you give to someone who’s brand new to CrossFit?
If I were to give advice to someone completely new, I would say, don’t listen to what other people who have never done the sport say about it. Everything is doable, no matter what level of fitness you are. Also, don’t watch the professional athletes thinking that is what all CrossFitters look like. We come in all sizes and abilities. If you’re looking for a great community then this is where you’re going to find it. The coaches and the other athletes are phenomenal!
