At CrossFit Lincoln, our mission is simple — we help individuals in our community become their healthiest and happiest selves through expert coaching, consistent support, and a genuine sense of belonging.
Our environment is inclusive, encouraging, and rooted in kindness and curiosity. We hold high standards of movement, celebrate effort, and build meaningful relationships that extend far beyond the gym walls.
As I wrap up my first full calendar year of ownership, it’s become even clearer why our core values matter so much. They aren’t just words on a wall — they’re the principles that guide how we coach, how we lead, and how we show up for each other every day.
Why I Bought a CrossFit Gym
My fitness journey began as a kid constantly on the move, with sports grounding me wherever I went. Basketball and swimming were my first loves, but basketball quickly became my passion. I thrived on the teamwork, the shared effort, and the energy of being part of something bigger than myself.
In college, I added tennis into the mix — learning the balance between team collaboration and individual accountability. But when those structured sports ended, I felt the loss of that built-in team and motivation. Training alone just didn’t feel the same.
Then I found CrossFit — and everything changed. The moment I walked through those doors, I felt that team energy again. The atmosphere was electric, the community strong, and the workouts challenging in all the right ways. I wasn’t just exercising anymore; I was part of something.
At first, I was drawn to the competitive side — testing limits and seeing what my body could do. But over time, that shifted. I realised that true fitness wasn’t about chasing podiums or personal records. It was about being capable — feeling strong, healthy, and ready for whatever life brings.
That realization sparked something deeper. I wanted to create a space where others could experience that same sense of belonging and growth. A place where fitness was about more than just movement — it was about community, mindset, and purpose.
Now, over one year into owning CrossFit Lincoln, I can confidently say that our mission extends far beyond workouts. It’s about helping people become the best versions of themselves — physically, mentally, and emotionally. And our four core values guide everything we do to make that possible.
Core Value 1: Be Kind
Kindness is the heartbeat of CrossFit Lincoln.
When I was growing up, kindness was what turned teammates into friends and challenges into opportunities. It’s what made every practice, win, or loss meaningful. In fitness — and in life — kindness has a ripple effect.
Inside the gym, kindness shows up in a smile when someone walks in, a high-five after a tough workout, or a few encouraging words to someone struggling with a lift. It’s also about being kind to yourself — giving yourself grace when progress feels slow or when life gets in the way.
We believe that kindness builds confidence, connection, and resilience. When people feel safe and supported, they grow faster and further — and that’s exactly what we want for everyone who walks through our doors.
Core Value 2: Stay Curious
Curiosity drives progress.
In sports, I was always fascinated by how things worked — how to shoot better, move faster, or think smarter. That same curiosity still fuels me today.
CrossFit is a constant learning experience. There’s always another movement to refine, a new skill to master, or a better way to move. The moment you stop asking questions is the moment you stop improving.
As coaches, curiosity keeps us sharp — it pushes us to keep learning, experimenting, and growing. As athletes, curiosity keeps training fresh and fun. It’s what turns a frustrating double-under session into an opportunity to learn coordination, timing, and patience.
At CrossFit Lincoln, curiosity means staying open — open to feedback, to new challenges, and to the process of becoming better one small step at a time.
Core Value 3: Build a Community
Community isn’t just something we have — it’s something we actively build.
I’ve always thrived in team settings because shared effort creates shared success. CrossFit reignited that for me. The encouragement, the accountability, the laughter after a tough WOD — it all reminded me why I loved sport in the first place.
At CrossFit Lincoln, community means showing up for each other, celebrating progress, and building connections that go beyond fitness. It’s the post-class conversations, the partner workouts, the seasonal events, and the outreach we do with local businesses.
We believe in creating spaces — both inside and outside the gym — where people feel like they belong. When people feel seen and supported, they don’t just train harder; they live better.
Core Value 4: Trust the Process
This one’s personal.
Owning a gym has taught me that success doesn’t come from big moments — it comes from the small, consistent actions that no one sees. The early mornings, the follow-up emails, the equipment checks, the quiet planning sessions — they all matter.
“Trust the process” means believing that those daily efforts, even the not-so-fun ones, are building something meaningful. It’s a reminder to stay patient, stay steady, and keep showing up.
For our members, trusting the process looks like sticking with the basics, showing up even when motivation dips, and understanding that progress isn’t always visible day to day — but it’s happening.
For our coaches and team, it’s about trusting the systems we’ve built, the lessons we’ve learned, and the people beside us.
When we live this value, we give ourselves permission to grow steadily, sustainably, and with purpose.
Bringing It All Together
Kindness, curiosity, community, and trust — these four values are the foundation of everything we do at CrossFit Lincoln.
They show up in the way we coach, the way we care, and the way we connect. They’re what turn an ordinary gym into a place where people grow — not just physically, but personally.
As we continue to evolve and improve, our mission stays the same:
To help people become their healthiest and happiest through consistent effort, genuine connection, and the courage to keep showing up.
Because when you live your values — every rep, every day — excellence follows.
