People ask us how we choose an Athlete of the Month. The honest answer? Every selection is a little different — but consistency in the gym and a positive presence in this community are almost always non-negotiables. Brooke didn’t just check those boxes, she blew right past them. She’s closing in on her 500th class, is currently on a 42-week streak, and has averaged five classes a week all year long. She’s logged 88 PRs since joining CrossFit Lincoln — but if you know Brooke, none of this is surprising. What makes her even more special is her story: Brooke was actually named Athlete of the Month back in December 2023, but was put on bed rest with her first child before she could fully enjoy it. She came back from that chapter stronger than ever — made last year’s Committed Club, judged Open workouts, shows up to community events, brings her family on Friend Days, and just recently welcomed her father-in-law into our community. Brooke, this one’s been a long time coming. We’re so glad you’re here. Read more about Brooke below!
I’m the girl of the household, holding it down with my 2-year-old son, my husband of 8 years, and our dog. There’s never a dull or quiet moment! I’m also a yoga teacher of 7 years and work as an improvement strategist at a children’s hospital, and I’m currently working on my Master’s in Healthcare Administration. Outside the gym, I love reading and being with my family. My life is full in the best way!
What first brought you to CrossFit, and what keeps you coming back as an athlete?
I first came to CrossFit because I was looking for movement I actually enjoyed. I wanted a place I wanted to go to, not somewhere I felt like I had to go. What keeps me coming back is how I feel physically and mentally. I’ve also met some amazing people, and there’s something really motivating about challenging yourself alongside others who are doing the same.

What accomplishment in the gym are you most proud of so far?
In the last few months, I got my first double under and my first rope climb. I wouldn’t have thought either of those would be possible 5 years ago.
What is your favorite movement or workout — and your least favorite?
I love a heavy bench press day with my strong gal pals. My least favorite are snatches.

How has CrossFit impacted your life outside the gym — health, work, family, mindset?
It’s built my capacity in every part of my life. I’m more patient and I handle stress better. It helps me show up better at home, at work, and just as myself. At this point, it’s just part of how I live. As a mom, it helps me keep up and be patient with my toddler. At work, I feel more clear-headed. I know I can handle hard things because I do it every day in the gym.
What advice would you give to someone who is brand new to CrossFit?
If you’re waiting for the “right time” or “right season” to start CrossFit, it probably isn’t coming. Life doesn’t ever slow down in the way we think it will. In the beginning, the movements will feel awkward. But what feels uncomfortable eventually becomes second nature. Stick with it. Everyone at the gym will be cheering you on and be so proud of you for just showing up.
